SSDs are significantly better in terms of performance but unlike their mechanical counterparts, their lifespan is something you need to take into account because they may die faster and once they go, they will take your data with them. If you have a Transcend-made drive, you can use SSD Scope to monitor its life signs and perform a few other actions to maintain it and prepare your data for unforeseen accidents. The utility is simple and easy to use, so it won't be an extra burden.

The software is absolutely free, and you can install it on your computer in no time. It runs on all modern Windows platforms, and it doesn't require any special tools to be running, but you need to have an SSD from Transcend. The software uses an insignificant amount of resources, so you won't notice any slowdowns while it's running.

SSD Scope comes with a compact user interface, which displays information, as well as some useful options, in separate sections. The status of your SSD can be found in the first section, where you will also see its capacity and estimated lifetime, represented as progress bars. When the lifetime bar is close to being filled up, you may want to start thinking about replacing your SSD.

The software shows a few performance statistics as well. Its sequential reading and writing speeds, as well as the random reading and writing speeds, are displayed in the second section of the user interface. Additionally, the application provides you with options for full and quick scans, to look for errors on your drive. Also, if you need to clean it up completely, you can just hit the "Full Erase" button in the same section and wait for the application to scrub all the data from your drive.

To prepare for your SSD's eventual death, you can take advantage of the application's system clone feature. This will move everything your drive, including the operating system and its settings, to a new drive. It may sound complicated, but all you really have to do is connect a new drive, select its letter on the application's interface and click a button.

While SSDs are the latest trend when it comes to performance and convenience, SSD Scope is an excellent way of keeping it in good working condition and prepare for the end of its life cycle.

Pros

The application provides general information about Transcend SSDs, as well as options for scanning and erasing its data. It can also help you migrate your system to a new drive.

Cons

The software is limited to Transcend SSDs.
